Root command execution via chained injection flaws
Published Jul 15, 2025 · Updated Jul 28, 2026
SQL and command injection in Riverbed SteelCentral NetProfiler and NetExpress 10.8.7 allows remote attackers to gain root access. The login API incorporates a crafted username into an SQL statement, enabling account creation, while the licenses endpoint passes attacker-controlled Stoken data to a shell command. No preexisting account is required for the chain; the created account reaches command injection, and an insecure mazu sudo rule exposes the root SSH key for full appliance control.
