Unauthenticated command execution via AppleScript header injection
Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
Code injection in Aexol Remote for Mac 2025.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through HTTP. The unauthenticated /api/executeScript endpoint passes the X-Script header as AppleScript, whose do shell script instruction runs attacker-supplied shell commands. Exploitation requires the Allow unknown devices option to disable authentication and runs commands with the background process's privileges.
