Authenticated code execution via profile injection and rename
Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
Code injection in Bolt CMS 3.7.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP through a crafted profile. The profile handler stores an unsanitized displayname in a session file, and the backend file browser can rename that cache file into /files/ with a PHP extension. Valid backend credentials and writable cache and public-files paths are required; the renamed session becomes an executable web shell.
