Unauthenticated account access via substring path check
Published Jul 1, 2025 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
Authentication bypass in AVTECH IP cameras, DVRs, and NVRs allows remote attackers to read protected account settings without credentials. The streamd web server uses strstr() to exempt any URL containing "/nobody" from authentication instead of restricting the exemption to the intended CGI directory. A crafted query places that substring in a protected Config.cgi URL and returns stored account configuration, including usernames and cleartext passwords on affected devices.
