Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized strCmd
Published Jul 1, 2025 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
OS command injection in AVTECH IP cameras, DVRs, and NVRs allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The adcommand.cgi endpoint passes the strCmd value supplied to ActionD's DoShellCmd operation directly to a system call without verification or an allowlist. A valid device session and the presence of DoShellCmd on newer device firmware are required; successful exploitation grants full control of the device.
