Root command execution via unsanitized ping address
Published Jun 24, 2025 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
OS command injection in Blue Angel Software Suite allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands as root via its web interface. The webctrl.cgi pingtest_update action appends the unvalidated ping_addr value to a system-level ping command, so shell metacharacters invoke additional commands and reflect their output. Any valid interface account, including published default or backdoor credentials, reaches the handler and grants full control of the embedded device.
