Authenticated file disclosure via unsanitized page path
Published Jun 20, 2025 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
Path traversal in Karel IP Phone IP1211 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary device files through its web management panel. The /cgi-bin/cgiServer.exx handler accepts the page parameter as a filesystem path without sanitizing traversal sequences, so dot-dot-slash input escapes the intended directory. A valid Basic authentication session is required; successful requests disclose sensitive account files, including /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow.
