Local access-control bypass via unencrypted project files
Published Apr 30, 2025 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
Access-control bypass in ABB Automation Builder 2.8.0 and earlier allows local users to alter protected AC500 V2 and SM560-S projects. The application stores device application files inside the project without encryption, allowing crafted modifications to override project user management. The attacker needs file-level access to a project that includes an AC500 V2 or SM560-S device; exploitation exposes and changes protected project content.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
