Access-control bypass via crafted project-file contents
Published Apr 30, 2025 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
Incorrect permission assignment in ABB Automation Builder 2.8.0 and earlier allows local users to overrule project user management. The project file stores all user-management information, and crafted modifications to its contents override that control despite encrypted password data. Low-privileged local access to modify a project file is required, after which the attacker can bypass its assigned user restrictions.
