Remote code execution via oversized CDUP argument
Published Apr 7, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Buffer overflow in the CDUP handler in PCMan FTP Server 2.0.7 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted FTP command. The public exploit authenticates anonymously, sends CDUP with a 2,006-byte prefix, overwrites EIP with a JMP ESP address, and transfers control to appended shellcode. Network access to FTP and accepted anonymous credentials are sufficient in the published test, which gains code execution with the server process's privileges.
