CVE-2025-33025Network attack vector

Authenticated root code execution via unsanitized traceroute input

Published May 13, 2025 · Updated May 13, 2025

Command injection in Siemens RUGGEDCOM ROX devices before 2.16.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute code with root privileges. The web interface's traceroute tool passes attacker-controlled input to an operating-system command without server-side sanitization. A legitimate, highly privileged web-interface account is required, and successful exploitation compromises the underlying device operating system.
