Crash and blind SSRF via playlist URL objects
Published Apr 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Type confusion in PeerTube before 7.1.1 allows remote attackers to crash the server or trigger blind SSRF through ActivityPub. The playlist parser passes an object-valued URL from a Create activity into got as request options, permitting Unix-socket fetches or uncaught errors. Federation exposes the inbox by default without authentication; exploitation can interrupt the service or make attacker-directed server-side requests.
