Private playlist disclosure via mis-sanitized path parameter
Published Apr 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Path traversal in the HLS endpoint in Framasoft PeerTube before 7.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary .m3u8 files. The private-playlist route validates a video token but sanitizes an optional query value instead of the playlistName path parameter, allowing encoded ../ segments to escape the selected video's directory. A public video UUID and the exact path of a target .m3u8 file are required, and the disclosed impact is limited to reading playlist contents.
