Remote code execution via unrestricted Raft deserialization
Published Jun 28, 2025 · Updated Mar 30, 2026
Deserialization in Apache Seata Server 2.0.0 through 2.2.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted Raft data. RaftSyncMessageSerializer.decode passes synchronization bytes to ObjectInputStream.readObject without restricting resolved classes. Exploitation requires access to the internal network and the optional, non-default Raft cluster mode, and successful exploitation runs code on the server.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
