Firmware disclosure and manipulation via cleartext HTTP
Published Jun 20, 2025 · Updated Jun 24, 2025
Cleartext firmware transfer in COROS PACE 3 through 3.1008.0 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read and alter firmware over WLAN. The watch's WLAN update path requests firmware binaries from s3eu.coros.com over unencrypted HTTP, providing neither transport confidentiality nor integrity. An attacker must control or intercept the watch's WLAN traffic; the exposed transfer permits firmware content disclosure and manipulation.
