Bluetooth interception via unauthenticated Just Works pairing
Published Jun 20, 2025 · Updated Jun 24, 2025
Improper authentication in COROS PACE 3 3.1008.0 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to intercept BLE communications. The watch advertises no input or output capability, forcing Just Works pairing without authentication and permitting arbitrary BLE clients to access GATT services. Bluetooth-range access is required; an attacker can relay or alter watch traffic and interact with exposed characteristics without prior authorization.
