Subscriber-level shortcode execution via unvalidated action input
Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Sep 9, 2025
Missing authorization in Target Video Easy Publish 3.8.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary shortcodes. An authenticated plugin action passes an improperly validated request value to WordPress's do_shortcode function, which interprets attacker-chosen shortcode content. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the resulting effects depend on the shortcode handlers installed and enabled on the WordPress site.
