Stored XSS via unsanitized biography Markdown
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in CIRCL Vulnerability-Lookup before 2.7.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted bio. The profile view passes the stored biography through markdown.markdown and renders the resulting HTML without sanitizing unsafe elements or attributes. An account able to save a bio is required; viewing the profile executes the payload in the viewer's origin, enabling limited data access or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
