Local privilege escalation via external PendingIntent extras
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Improper component export in Android 13 through 16 allows local users to escalate privileges through biometric enrollment. BiometricEnrollIntroduction retained enrollment-control extras, including PendingIntent values, supplied by an external calling package instead of removing them before the flow continued. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and user interaction, and the unsafe privileged flow can disclose the device's location.
