Local privilege escalation via deceptive app label
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Sep 4, 2025
Improper input validation in Android DocumentsUI 13 through 16 allows local users to escalate privileges via a deceptive file-access prompt. Shared.getCallingAppName passes an unbounded, unquoted application label into ConfirmFragment, allowing attacker-controlled text to blend into the permission message. A low-privileged local app can obtain file access without additional execution privileges or user interaction.
