Stored XSS via unsafe wikitext serialization
Published Apr 11, 2025 · Updated Jul 7, 2025
Stored XSS in Wikimedia Foundation WikibaseMediaInfo 1.39 through 1.43 allows remote authenticated users to inject script into file pages. WikibaseMediaInfo dangerously serializes attacker-controlled wikitext into file-page content without neutralizing executable markup. Exploitation requires a low-privileged account and a user to view the crafted file page, where the script runs in that viewer's browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
