Kernel code execution via unsigned module loading
Published Feb 15, 2026 · Updated Feb 15, 2026
Improper signature verification in Bosch Infotainment system ECU 283C30861E allows local users with root access to execute kernel code. The Linux kernel is built without CONFIG_MODULE_SIG, so its module loader accepts attacker-supplied unsigned modules instead of authenticating them. Root command execution obtained through another flaw is required; loaded code runs in kernel context and can disable built-in modules or take control of the ECU.
