Denial of service via unbounded metadata decoding
Published Apr 8, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Resource exhaustion in bep/imagemeta before 0.10.0 allows local users to interrupt consuming applications via crafted image metadata. Decode traverses EXIF and IPTC tags without limiting tag count or value size, so a compact image can force excessive metadata processing. The affected library must process an untrusted JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or WebP file, and the consequence is limited to availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
