CVE-2025-3198

Service interruption via unreleased display_info buffer

Published Apr 4, 2025 · Updated Jul 14, 2026

A memory leak in objdump in GNU Binutils 2.43 and 2.44 allows local users to consume memory by invoking its information-display mode. The display_info function in binutils/bucomm.c returns without freeing the dynamically allocated arg.info buffer. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access, and repeated invocations can exhaust memory and interrupt service without exposing or modifying data.
