CVE-2025-31947Network attack vector

Unauthenticated LDAP account lockout via repeated failures

Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2025

Account lockout failure in affected Mattermost releases allows remote attackers to lock external LDAP accounts through login requests. The LDAP login path in 9.11.0 through 9.11.11, 10.4.0 through 10.4.4, 10.5.0 through 10.5.2, and 10.6.0 through 10.6.1 forwards repeated invalid credentials to the external directory rather than stopping attempts under Mattermost's lockout control. No Mattermost account or user interaction is required, but LDAP authentication must be enabled and a valid LDAP login identifier must be known; repeated failures can deny that directory account access.
