Privilege escalation via overlapping protected memory ranges
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Privilege escalation in Intel Xeon 6 processors using Intel TDX allows local users with SMM privileges to gain higher privileges. Within SMM, the processor improperly permits protected memory ranges to overlap, bypassing their intended separation. Exploitation requires existing privileged SMM access, high attack complexity, special internal knowledge, and specific attack conditions; confidentiality and integrity are affected, but availability is not.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
