CVE-2025-3166Public exploit

Local code execution via unbounded search input

Published Apr 3, 2025 · Updated Apr 3, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in the Search Product Menu of Code Projects Product Management System 1.0 allows local users to crash the application. The search_item function accepts an unbounded target value into a 40-byte stack buffer, so an oversized search string overwrites adjacent stack memory. Access to the authenticated local menu is required; the published proof of concept demonstrates an access-violation crash, while the researcher also reports code execution.
