CVE-2025-31487Network attack vector

Authenticated file disclosure via external XML entities

Published Apr 3, 2025 · Updated Apr 3, 2025

XXE in XWiki Contrib JIRA 4.2 through 8.5.5 allows remote authenticated users to read local server files through a fake JIRA URL. HTTPJIRAFetcher.createSAXBuilder creates a JDOM SAXBuilder without disabling DOCTYPE declarations, so attacker-controlled JIRA XML resolves external file entities and renders their contents in issue fields. The JIRA macro must be installed, and any logged-in XWiki user can trigger the read from an editable profile page; reported impact is limited to confidentiality.
