Sandbox restriction bypass via installed-app launching
Published Jul 29, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Permissions bypass in MediaRemote in Apple macOS before 15.6 allows local users to launch any installed app from a sandboxed process. MediaRemote applies insufficient permission restrictions when a sandboxed process requests an application launch; Apple has not disclosed the affected API or validation path. Exploitation requires local code execution inside a sandbox and permits activation of installed applications, without reported data access or privilege elevation.
