CVE-2025-31240Network attack vector

System termination via crafted AFP share

Published May 12, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

Denial of service in Apple macOS Ventura, Sonoma, and Sequoia allows remote attackers to terminate the system via a crafted AFP share. The afpfs component processes attacker-controlled share data during mounting, but Apple has not disclosed the failed check or malformed field. Affected releases precede Ventura 13.7.6, Sonoma 14.7.6, and Sequoia 15.5, and exploitation requires the target to mount the share.
