System termination via malformed AFP share mount
Published May 12, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Improper resource shutdown in Apple macOS allows remote attackers to terminate affected systems by mounting a maliciously crafted AFP share. Within afpfs, an undisclosed validation check fails while processing attacker-controlled AFP share data during the mount operation. Network access to an attacker-controlled AFP server is sufficient, and successful exploitation causes a system-wide availability interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
