Cross-origin data exfiltration via detached stylesheets
Published May 12, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Cross-origin data exposure in WebKit on affected Apple platforms allows remote attackers to steal stylesheet data through a malicious website. CSSStyleSheet::canAccessRules grants rule access when a stylesheet lacks an owner Document, allowing malicious JavaScript to detach a cross-origin sheet and read its rules. A user must visit attacker-controlled web content; the published impact is cross-origin data disclosure, not modification or service interruption.
