User enumeration via inconsistent login-name normalization
Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Mar 31, 2025
User enumeration in affected ZITADEL 2.x releases allows remote attackers to disclose whether a submitted login name exists. AuthRequestRepo replaces existing users' mixed-case input with the preferred normalized login name but leaves nonexistent input unchanged. The discrepancy is reachable without authentication only when an administrator has enabled Ignoring unknown usernames, and it reveals account existence.
