Unauthenticated administrator creation via empty secret comparison
Published Apr 10, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in Brainstorm Force OttoKit 1.0.78 and earlier allows remote attackers to create WordPress administrator accounts. The autheticate_user function compares the St-Authorization header with secret_key without rejecting empty values, so two empty strings authenticate. The plugin must be active and lack a configured API key; successful exploitation grants full WordPress site administration.
