Stored XSS via unsanitized menu shortcode parameters
Published Mar 27, 2025 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in webvitalii Sitekit 1.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through a WordPress shortcode. The sitekit_menu handler forwards user-controlled shortcode parameters into wp_nav_menu without the sanitization introduced in 1.9. Low-privileged WordPress access is required, and another user must render the stored shortcode; the script then runs in that user's browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
