Denial of service in the Oracle MySQL Server optimizer allows remote authenticated users to hang or repeatedly crash the server over the network. Oracle identifies the optimizer as the affected locus but has not disclosed the optimizer operation or request sequence that triggers the failure. A low-privileged MySQL account is required, and only availability is affected in versions 8.0.0 through 8.0.41, 8.4.0 through 8.4.4, and 9.0.0 through 9.2.0.
