Root privilege escalation via boot-time script execution
Published Jul 11, 2025 · Updated Feb 26, 2026
Incorrect permission assignment in Junos OS line-card script processing allows local users to execute attacker-supplied scripts as root. The processor accepts a script copied through local filesystem access and executes it with root privileges when the affected line card boots. Exploitation requires low-privileged local filesystem access and specified line-card hardware, and successful execution grants complete system control.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
