Routing daemon crash via resource-intensive BGP query
Published Apr 9, 2025 · Updated Apr 9, 2025
Improper condition handling in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows local users to crash and restart rpd. Processing a specific show bgp neighbor CLI command drives rpd CPU utilization upward until the daemon crashes and restarts. A low-privileged CLI account can reach the flaw only when BGP RIB sharding and update-threading are enabled; repeated commands sustain the service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
