Missing authentication in Juniper Networks Junos OS command processing allows local users with high privileges to gain FPC root access. An affected command path launches an attacker-controlled script as root during FPC boot without requiring the root password. Exploitation requires shell and maintenance privileges on a system with a listed Linux-based line card; FPC root access provides persistent root control of the router.
