Unauthenticated service interruption via spoofed syslog packets

Improper input validation in Junos OS TCP syslog transport allows remote attackers to exhaust MX-SPC3 SPU CPU resources with spoofed packets. The transport continues processing specifically crafted spoofed packets without rejecting them, driving SPU utilization into overload while traffic persists. Exposure requires TCP syslog enabled on an MX240, MX480, or MX960 fitted with an MX-SPC3 card; the resulting service interruption is sustained rather than permanent.
