FPC crash and code execution via DHCP packet

Heap-based buffer overflow in Juniper Networks Junos OS allows attackers to crash or execute code on the FPC via an adjacent-network DHCP packet. The FPC DHCP Option 82 path lets the specific packet overflow a heap buffer, corrupting memory and forcing the component to restart. Exploitation requires adjacent network access and a rare timing condition outside the attacker’s control; repeated packets can sustain forwarding disruption, while successful memory corruption grants FPC control.
