Sensitive location disclosure via improper path handling
Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Jul 23, 2026
Path traversal in Maps on affected iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS, and watchOS releases allows local users to read sensitive location data. Maps mishandles a filesystem path, but Apple has not disclosed the affected function, the attacker-controlled path source, or the missing validation. Exploitation requires a local app and user interaction; successful access exposes sensitive location information without changing data or disrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
