Sensitive data disclosure via improper symlink validation
Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Symlink validation failure in Apple macOS manpages before 13.7.5, 14.7.5, and 15.4 allows local users to read sensitive user data. The manpages component fails to validate symbolic links before resolving file access, allowing an app-controlled link to reach data outside its intended path. Exploitation requires local execution and user interaction; the published impact is limited to reading sensitive data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
