Code execution via Symbol Editor out-of-bounds read
Published May 15, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in NI Circuit Design Suite 14.3.0 and earlier allows attackers to execute code through a crafted .sym file. Symbol Editor's Bitmap::InternalDraw() performs improper bounds checking while processing the file, causing a read beyond the intended memory boundary. Exploitation requires a user to open the file and can disclose process memory or execute code in that user's application context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
