CVE-2025-30399Network attack vector

Code execution via attacker-placed search-path files

Published Jun 13, 2025 · Updated Feb 20, 2026

Untrusted search path handling in Microsoft .NET, Visual Studio, and PowerShell allows remote attackers to execute code via placed files. Microsoft identifies attacker-placed files but does not disclose the searched component, filenames, directories, or loading sequence. Exploitation requires user interaction and a favorable search-path condition; successful loading runs attacker code in the affected process.
