Cross-organization field deletion via missing ownership check
Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Mar 31, 2025
Authorization bypass in Zulip Server 1.6.0 through 10.0 allows remote authenticated users to delete other organizations' profile fields. The deletion API handler accepts a user-controlled field ID and deletes the matching database record without verifying that its organization matches the caller's organization. Exploitation requires administrator rights in any organization and a multi-organization server; single-organization installations with default-disabled realm creation are not exposed.
