Browser memory corruption via XSLT reentrancy
Published Apr 1, 2025 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Use-after-free in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird allows remote attackers to corrupt memory through attacker-controlled XSLT content. During an XSLTProcessor transform, synchronous document loading processes events and runs JavaScript, which can delete source nodes still referenced in an XPath node list. Attacker-controlled content must invoke the transform; the public proof of concept demonstrates an ASAN-detected crash, not code execution.
