CVE-2025-30222Public exploit

Environment variable disclosure via unescaped percent expansion

Published Mar 25, 2025 · Updated Mar 26, 2025

Information disclosure in Shescape 1.7.2 through 2.1.1 allows local users to read environment variables through Windows CMD input. The CMD escapeArg routine conditionally escapes percent signs according to double-quote state, allowing a crafted quoted %NAME% token to reach CMD expansion. Exposure requires Windows, CMD selected through shell: 'cmd.exe' or shell: true, and attacker-controlled input passed to quote, quoteAll, escape, or escapeAll.
