Service crash via malformed RISOPEN message
Published May 13, 2025 · Updated Jul 8, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in Siemens UMC and integrated products allows unauthenticated remote attackers to crash services via a malformed RISOPEN message. The GpsReadStr routine in um.gpslib.dll over-reads a buffer while parsing the malformed message, causing a read access violation. Network access to UMC on TCP ports 4002 or 4004 is sufficient, and the demonstrated consequence is service interruption rather than data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
