Browser script execution via missing response content type
Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Mar 31, 2025
Reflected XSS in OpenEMR before 7.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser via target. The layout_listitems_ajax.php handler emits target in a JavaScript response without setting a script content type, allowing crafted content to be interpreted as HTML. Exploitation requires low-privilege access, a valid CSRF token, and victim interaction, enabling browser-session data access or actions as the victim.
